We are so excited that you are visiting our website. We pray the
Lord blesses you by what you see and read. Children are very
important to us and we have several areas in which they can worship
each week. Here is an explanation of the Children's Ministries
we have at Willott Road Community Church.
Nursery
Our nursery is a warm, friendly environment where babies through 5 year old preschoolers can learn about God and have fun. It is important for parents to study God's Word, fellowship with other believers, praise and
worship - while knowing their children are safe and well cared for.
The nursery is staffed with church members who watch the
children as they learn Bible stories, sing, learn Bible verses,
eat a snack and play. If the weather is nice, they even go
outside for some running on the playground.
The nursery is available on Sunday mornings from 9-11:30 am.
This is during both our Sunday School and Worship Services.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School meets every Sunday from 9-10 am. The children
are divided into age appropriate groups where they study God's Word
on their level. The divisions are as follows:
- Preschoolers (ages 3 & 4)
- Kindergarten and First Grade
- Second and Third Grades
- Fourth and Fifth Grades
Kingdom Seekers
Our Kingdom Seeker Program meets on Sunday mornings as well. This
class meets the first three Sundays of every month during the
Message portion of the morning Worship Service. The children
sing praise with the church congregation and then are dismissed to
their classes. The are divided by age into the following
groups:
- Prekindergarten to Second Grade
- Third through Fifth Grades
During their session, they study the Bible, people of the
Bible, events, holidays, and ceremonies in the Bible. They
learn their historic background and significance to the people
in the Bible days, and discover what ways they can grow in the
Lord from what they have heard. The children have crafts,
projects, worksheets, and, at times, a snack.
On the fourth Sunday, the Kingdom Seekers stay in the service
and experience an adult worship.
On a month that has five Sundays, the children are dismissed
to participate in service projects for people in our church, the
military, and community helpers.
This program is a great way for children to learn on their
level, with their peers.
AWANA
AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. This is based
on the scripture from II Timothy 2:15. It is an exciting program for
Children from the age of 3 through Sixth grade. AWANA meets on
Sundays from 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm during the months of September to
May. The children are divided into age appropriate groups as
they learn.
The goal of this program is to reach children with the Gospel
of Christ and train them to serve Him. The emphasis of
this ministry is based on scripture memory and Bible lessons
with an added game time. Also included are missions and
teamwork. The children are encouraged to honor God in all
they do, whether work or play.
The children receive workbooks and vests. As they go
through their books, they earn patches, jewels and pins.
Theme nights are incorporated throughout the year such as
Cardinal Night, Bring-A-Friend, and Banana Split Night.
They also have other events such as the AWANA Grand Prix, the
AWANA Overnighter, and the AWANA Quiz and the AWANA Games.
W.O.W.
W.O.W. stands for worship on Wednesdays. This program is
available from 6:30 - 7:30 pm during the Wednesday night service.
The children get to meet together and do various fun things.
Included are Popsicles in the Park, Kids in the Kitchen, Arts &
Crafts, Movie Night, and Recreation Night.
This program is for all ages and allows the parents to
worship, knowing their children are having a fun, Christ
centered time of play and activity.
Vacation Bible School
The Vacation Bible School program at Willott Road Community
Church grows each year with children eager to learn about
Jesus. Timely and fun curriculums are chosen to allow the
children as much excitement and growth as one week can allow.
VBS occurs during the first weeks of June. It lasts
Monday to Friday from 6 pm to 9 pm each night. The
children are divided into age appropriate groups and travel
around the building in shifts to experience Bible stories,
music, crafts, snacks, games and missions.
We have contests for topics such as Bring-A-Friend, Bible
memory, theme nights and mission offerings.
We end the week with a great big celebration including a
concert where the children sing the songs they learned. We make
a quilt using all the children's handprints and auction it off
to the highest bidder. We recognize contest winners and
then go out for a party. We have bonfires, carnivals,
campouts and ice cream sundae building contests in huge troughs.
It is a great time for children to get together and learn
about the Lord, show their parents what they have learned, and
shine for Jesus in the world!
